WEARSOX TEAMS UP WITH DAVIS-LYNCH

WearSox LP has teamed up with Davis-Lynch to market a unique solution for the centralization of tight tolerance casing wells.

By applying WearSox® spray metal to locate the one-piece Davis CentraLaser™ directly onto the casing, when the bow-spring needs to collapse, it is now PULLED rather than pushed, avoiding the possibility of catastrophic bow-spring buckling. On reaching the previous casing shoe the bow-spring reopens to its natural diameter to centralize the casing in the under-reamed open hole.

This arrangement overcomes the issues of handling stabilizer or centralizer subs and the introduction of further potential failure points (connections) in the casing string.

Furthermore the CentraLasers™ themselves are also now given a thin coating of WearSox® spray metal to reduce the bow-spring starting force, reduce running friction and increase the wear-ability of the bow-springs themselves. Finally a thin band of WearSox® spray metal is applied above and below the bow-spring, to the same diameter as the end collar, to act as a centralizing guide. The whole assembly is bi-directional should the casing need to be worked up and down at any point during its running.

Please contact Davis-Lynch for a quotation and a list of the currently available casing sizes that CentraLasers™ can be used with.

13-625 CT StopSox

a. 13-625 CT StopSox: “13-5/8 in. Close Tolerance bowspring centralizers with external spray metal stops”

7-75 Centralaser

b. 7-75 Centralaser: “7-3/4 in. Centralaser with external spray metal stops”

Internal Stop

c. Internal Stop: “Where annular tolerances allow, spray metal stops can be built inside the bowsprings which then pull the centralizers into the hole and allow casing rotation”

Solid Bodies SSX

d. Solid Bodies SSX: “Where the hole is not under-reamed below the last casing shoe, a very robust solution is to use solid body centralizers with a spray metal stop collar above and below. With the gentle taper to either side of the stops this is an ideal application when passing through windows and where casing rotation is also required”
